Joseph J. Perrone is a graduate of St. John’s University School of Law (J.D. 1988) and St. John’s University, College of Business Administration (B.S. 1985). He is admitted to practice before the Courts of the States of New York and New Jersey, the United States District Courts for the Northern, Eastern, Southern and Western Districts of New York, the District of New Jersey, the District of Connecticut, the United States Courts of Appeals for the Second, Third, Ninth and Eleventh Circuits, and the United States Supreme Court. He is an active member of the Maritime Law Association, serving on both its maritime personnel and recreational boating committees.
Mr. Perrone has litigated and tried over fifty maritime personal injury, property damage, wrongful death, products liability (including class actions), allision, collision, limitation of liability and insurance coverage cases in New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, Arizona, Washington and Florida. He is also an experienced appellate practitioner, having handled scores of appeals in federal and state courts. He has over one hundred published decisions in maritime and insurance litigation.
He regularly represents: insurers in coverage disputes; vessel owners and operators in personal injury and property damage cases; cruise lines, boat manufacturers, marinas, yacht and commercial vessel owners in contract drafting and negotiation; boat owners, operators and salvors in environmental and salvage claims, including response and litigation; and vessel owners, charterers and mariners in Coast Guard matters.
